News for September:
Coming this fall at the Montpelier Senior Activity Center: Two classes of eight weeks each. On Mondays at 9:30 AM (starting date October 2) we’ll see “Films Based on Myths, Legends, and Fairy Tales;” the series includes “Pygmalion,” Cocteau’s “Beauty and the Beast,” “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” and others. On Thursdays at 10 AM (start date September 28), “Films About Death and Dying,” in connection with other MSAC events this fall. This series will include “Wit,” “Truly Madly Deeply” the Japanese “After Life,” and “Never Let Me Go,” among others. Registration begins August 28.
On Wednesday, September 13, at 11 AM, I’ll be speaking to the St. Albans chapter of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) on “Classics from Hollywood’s Golden Age.” This event will be at the St. Albans Museum.
On Thursday, September 14 at 1:00 PM, I’ll be presenting “Alfred Hitchcock and the Art of Suspense” at Westview Meadows, Montpelier, sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council.
It’s not too early to start signing up for a movie trip to Montreal and their “Cinemania Film Festival.” Andrea Serota, Karen Kane, and I have been leading this three-day trip for six years now. Dates are November 3-6. Contact <email@example.com> for more info.
